Adnams Southwold Bitter £2.00
Guinness Stout £2.25 (10.xi.1998)

This is a quite surprisingly small pub on a sliproad off the west side of the
A44 dual carriageway to Evesham and points west. It has wallpaper that looks
to be of a considerable vintage, and rather old bottles of beer on a shelf
above the bar. The Southwold Bitter was well-kept and very welcome on a cold
night in November after walking here from Kidlington by way of Sandy Lane and
Yarnton.

In summer, I expect the sizeable gardens on either side are sufficiently
sheltered from the A44 to be not unpleasant to sit in, if a bit noisy, and
none of the benches or tables looked level enough to put a pint of beer on.
If you're coming on foot from the north end of Kidlington via the Spires
Industrial estate, it's about a twenty-five minute walk away from the Wise
Alderman. (10.xi.1998)
