The Kings Arms Hotel (Free House)

Horton Hill, Horton-cum-Studley

Review

  • Two pounds fifty for a cup of coffee and a cup of tea I ask you. (31.i.1998)

Peculiar place this, combining the ideas of a plush hotel bar (comfortable sofas), a dentist's waiting room (lots of copies of Country Life lying about the place, coffee tables), slightly pub (good bricked chimney there), subdued lighting, luridly red decor, and a bright red painted statue.

Slightly arch proprietor. Attached restaurant is called "Mr Bumbles". Didn't get a chance to ogle the price list, but I get the impression that the beer's going to be expensive, though if it's anything like the tea or the coffee, it'll come with almond shortbread, which is a nice touch, but still.
