Bampton in the Bush, or Bampton Castle (as it's known due to one of the
Henrys having stayed at Ham Court, a disappointing country house round the
corner) is some sort of pub heaven. This is a pleasantish, dark and beamed
genuinely old pub with a yard out the back, and beyond that a wee garden.
The beer is very pleasant, and the decoration doesn't stretch much beyond
a few brasses, an old map of Oxfordshire marking the hundreds, a calendar,
and a huge price list. Yes. (26.v.1998)
