The Court Inn, Bridge Street, Witney Free House Monday to Saturday 11am to 3pm, 7pm to 11pm Sunday 12pm to 3pm, 7pm to 10.30pm Food: Monday to Saturday 12noon to 2pm, 7pm to 9pm (25.v.1998) Wychwood Shires Bitter £1.55 John Smith Bitter £1.60 Bailey's £1.50 (25.v.1998) It doesn't look much from the outside: the gold on maroon signs didn't impress me, but on the inside it's quite pleasant and comfortable: the public bar is a bit dilapidated with its leatherette seats and its pool table, but the lounge bar is quite pleasant, if rather like a dining room with its dining tables and fishtank on a sideboard. The barwoman thought I was rather young to notice that going into a pub and asking for a pint of Shires was an Archers reference. There was another proper beer on offer on cask, but I can't remember what it was. Good cheap prices, closer to Bampton than Oxford. Food filling but unimaginative. Spotted dick spicier than usual.
