The Half Moon (Free House)
High Street, Willingham-by-Stow, Lincolnshire

    * Cottage Brewery Somerset and Dorset Ale
    * Ridley's IPA
    * Castle Eden Ale £1.80 (28.x.2000)

I am very fond of this pub.

It's a little white building with a red roof somewhere between Lincoln and
Gainsborough. Behind the door there's a sign advertising the fish suppers
on the second and fourth Friday of the month, and once inside, Castle Eden
turns out to be the regular (2000-10-28), and there's two guest ales. They
will take the sparklers off if you ask nicely. Castle Eden is probably
best with the sparkler left on, though.

The squiggly sign on the wall looks as if it's emerged from a dot matrix
printer. It isn't squiggly in the slightest, but tells us that the pub
dates from the 1830s and the Duke of Wellington's Beerhouse Act.

There's lots of tables outside in summer, some on the High Street, some
under what could be a pergola, and others round the back.
