Ravintola Teerenpeli, Hämeenkatu, Tampere, Finland

Hämeenkatu is a shopping street in the middle of Tampere and
Teerenpeli is not far from Keskustori, the central square. In the early
evenings, Teerenpeli mostly seems to attract middle-aged couples out doing
their Christmas shopping. This might be thanks to the age limit of 22.
Teerenpeli itself means flirtation, or grouseplay (like horseplay, I
suppose, and remember that a capercaillie is etymologically a
horse of the woods) and cartoon grouse with a variety of haircuts,
headgear and spectacles decorate the pub.

They brew their own beer and cider and have an impressive range of bottled
beers and single malts. The blueberry cider Lempi Mustikka is
served quite cold and tastes mainly of blueberries, almost like a
Scandinavian dessert soup.

The pub faces north and is dark in winter, but cosily so with dark wood
and candles. The Mallasviskikellari, or malt whisky cellar, can be hired
out.
