If you can’t get UTF-8 to work in visccg (looking at Stack Overflow suggests this might be a Python-on-the-Mac thing, but I wouldn’t swear to it) you can still edit .ccg files in Your Favourite Text Editor and ccg2xml will still process them fine.

Hi,
Your post is from July, 2014…but I thought I might still give it a try. I wish to learn CCG (and Lambda calculus) on my own. I downloaded OpenCCG, but there is hardly any documentation. Are there any “OpenCCG 101” type programming tutorials? Any other pointers? Wonder if OpenCCG is the correct choice in the first place? Thanks.
Best Regards, HW
Hello H W,
There’s this: http://www.utcompling.com/wiki/openccg/visccg-tutorial which should be enough to get you going, but not all of the links work.
As for lambda calculus, have you seen the interactive tool here: https://files.nyu.edu/cb125/public/Lambda/
Good luck!
Colin.
